Crestbridge Private's leadership team brings decades of combined experience in wealth management, international finance, and not being in the same room as your money.
Rupert founded Crestbridge Private in 2021 after a distinguished career in institutions that no longer return his calls. He previously served as Vice President (Junior) at a mid-tier Swiss private bank, where his primary responsibilities included attending conferences, nodding during presentations about markets he did not understand, and telling people at dinner parties that he worked in private banking. He holds an MBA from a university that is, technically, accredited.
Rupert's vision for Crestbridge came to him during a period of sustained exposure to wealth management advertising on social media. For eighteen months, his Instagram feed had shown him images of men on yachts, men in rooftop bars, and men looking thoughtfully at skylines, all accompanied by the suggestion that he — personally — should consider establishing a family office in Asia. He considered it. He realised he could not afford a family office in Asia. He then realised that this was also true of everyone else seeing the same adverts, and that the product being sold was not a service but a sentence. The sentence was: I have a family office in Asia. He founded Crestbridge to provide that sentence at a price point that reflected what it was actually worth.
He selected Changsha for three reasons: the maglev, the crayfish, and the fact that the domain crestbridge-changsha.com was available. He has been to Changsha twice. He considers this sufficient. He does not speak Mandarin. He does not need to. The city, he argues, speaks for itself.
Julian oversees day-to-day operations at Crestbridge, which primarily means managing the relationship between the Changsha office manager and Rupert's WhatsApp account. He previously worked in compliance at a firm that was later found to be non-compliant. He considers this experience invaluable.
Sarah leads the team responsible for translating your ayi's updates into English. She is the only member of staff who speaks Mandarin, which gives her considerable power. She has a degree in Modern Languages from the University of Exeter and a very loose interpretation of the word "translation."
Duncan is the face of Crestbridge for our UK-based clients. He hosts quarterly review meetings in the Crestbridge London office, which is a desk in a WeWork on Borough High Street. He previously worked in private banking at a firm that asked him to leave, a distinction he shares with several of his clients.
Marcus is responsible for the physical offices in Changsha. He handles lease negotiations, IT setup, and the complex logistics of ensuring each ayi arrives at the correct desk each morning. He has never met Rupert. He has been told this is normal.
The backbone of Crestbridge Private. Each ayi is carefully selected for her professionalism, composure, and ability to sit at a desk for eight hours without becoming curious about what the business actually is.
Auntie Zhou has been with Crestbridge since 2022. She holds the record for longest consecutive Solitaire streak (4,273 games). She maintains a pristine desk and has been described by the building's security guard as "very reliable, always on time, never causes problems." This is, by our standards, a glowing reference.
Auntie Liu joined in 2023 after a distinguished career as a school dinner lady. She brings unmatched discipline and an ability to ignore distractions. She has never once asked what the office is for. She brings her own thermos. She is perfect.
Auntie Wang splits her time between three Silver clients. She rotates desks at 11am and 3pm. She has memorised all three surnames and can pronounce two of them. She is currently learning to use Excel, unprompted. We are not sure why. We are not stopping her.
We are always looking for experienced ayis to join our Changsha operations. If you can sit at a desk, look professional, and not ask questions, we want to hear from you. Solitaire skills preferred but not required — we provide training.
Crestbridge Private is an equal opportunities employer. We do not discriminate on the basis of Solitaire ability.
